Poetry Friday: Cameravision
Jul 31st, 2009 |
It’s been a busy month away from home, but I am finally back again and on the final
countdown for the start of school. Poetry Friday is a perfect way to ease into the routine. Today’s offering is a revision of a mask poem I wrote ages ago in a UCLA extension children’s poetry class.
CAMERAVISION
See life through my eye.
A mother.
A boy.
I don’t miss a thing.
Her face.
His smile.
Salt breeze.
Spray of sea.
On the count of
three.
One
memorized
moment.
Family.
I've lived and traveled around the world, but now make my home in California.
By day, I teach; evenings and many weekends, I write.
My teaching, reading, and writing eventually led to a degree in Language and Literacy, and later, an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Thanks for joining our Poetry Friday gathering this week– and for sharing this tender poem. Cherish that moment!
